I first stumbled upon Isaac Nichols's work in a picture sent by painter Kristin Texeira of her cool Brooklyn home. We are doing a flat exchange this summer and traded pictures of our places by email. I noticed a glorious torso-shaped planter sitting on top of a shelf, wearing a top with "New York City" written on it. It immediately became my mission to find out more about this object, and how to get one for myself. What better souvenir from NYC than a handmade boob-planter by a local brooklyn artist ?
So I retraced steps (in a very Blade Runner, "let's zoom in on this detail" style) to Isaac Nichols's instagram account from where the craze began, and discovered that he was selling a selection of his pieces through Opening Ceremony's shop, who actually did a small interview with him and shot some of his work with photographer Blaise Cépis. Can't wait to display a boob-planter alongside my moon mug by Small Spells !
J'ai découvert le travail d'Isaac Nichols dans une photo que l'artiste Kristin Texeira m'a envoyé de son appartement à Brooklyn. Nous nous envoyions des photos de nos logements par email avant de se les échanger cet été. J'ai remarqué un petit pot en céramique génial, en forme de torse de femme, sur le haut d'une bibliothèque, portant un top "New York City". Je décidais alors, investie d'une mission sacrée, d'en savoir plus sur cet objet, et de découvrir comment m'en procurer un. Quel meilleur souvenir ramener de NYC qu'un pot orné de seins fait à la main par un artiste de Brooklyn, dans lequel planter un énième cactus ? J'ai alors suivi la trace (dans une scène digne de Blade Runner, "zoomons à 1000% sur ce détail") d'Isaac Nichols, jusqu'à tomber sur son instagram, l'origine de l'obsession. Il s'avère qu'il vend déjà une sélection de ses pièces chez Opening Ceremony, qui l'ont même interviewé et fait shooter quelques images originales par Blaise Cépis pour l'occasion. J'ai hâte de pouvoir poser mon "boob-planter" à côté de mon "moon pot" de Small Spells !
