Simon Roussin

one-more-good-one-simon-roussin-french-comic-book-illustration

Simon Roussin has quickly become one of my favourite author of french contemporary comic books. Like Anouk Ricard or Bastien Vivès, I know that I can buy each one of his publications with eyes closed. I grew up reading classic Belgian, French and American comics: from Tintin to Thorgal, Foerster to Astérix. Simon Roussin's work's main subject is still, as in my childhood stories, the myth of the hero, but he manages to bring a modern and surprizing twist to it.

Color Structures No. 1

8 octobre 2015

Fashion and architecture are my two "visual weaknesses". Among a multitude of images, my eye will always go straight for the graphic shapes of a heavy wool coat, the weird angles of a balcony, the shine of colored curtains, the straight lines of a pleated dress. Here is some graphic eye-candy for those of you who feel the same way.

I met Bessie Anderson during my month long stay in New York this August. I exchanged flats with painter Kristin Texeira and she's one of her closest friends, living just a block away from her place. She kindly showed me and my boyfriend around Crown Heights, the Brooklyn neighborhood where we were staying. When I learned about her work as a designer, working with hand-set letterpress type in a huge studio in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, I knew I had to take a look around her workplace. So, here goes the first installment of the studio visits series!

Cecy Young

cecy young photographer fashion photography paris on one more good one

Cecy Young is a young fashion photographer based in Paris that I discovered through her flawless instagram account (by the way, she's currently travelling in her home country of Mexico for the summer, and is doing a wonderful job documenting her journey on instagram — go check it out!). She has an excellent eye for color and creates delightful pastel palettes. She has worked for fun brands such as Lazy Oaf, RAD or Club Pétanque, and magazines such as Nylon and Paulette. Cecy Young is definitely in my "ones to watch" list, and I can't wait to see what she'll produce when she'll work with totally different brands. I can definitely see her shooting an unexpected lookbook for Miu Miu or working with the wonderful Shona Heath as a set designer. Click on read more to see selected works, and enjoy!

Wearable Objects

Viktor & Rolf FW15 (ph: Alessandro Garofalo from Style.com)
The latest show from Viktor & Rolf — featuring models wearing destructured canvas as dresses — left a lot of people speechless. I knew I had to make a post about it, but wanted to enhance it by relating other fashion content to it. So I started doing some research about the idea of wearable objects in fashion, and here are the highlights of what I found, featuring pieces from (of course) Viktor & Rolf, Hussein Chalayan, Maison Martin Margiela, and Comme des Garçons. Only excellent stuff!
